Rio Indio Rainbow Bass Lodge

Rio Indio Lodge

Location: San Juan River, Nicaragua
Type: Lodge

Rio Indio Rainbow Be among the first privileged anglers to experience Nicaragua's virgin sportfishing. Rio Indio Lodge is a new jungle resort catering to discerning anglers and eco-adventurers. Sheltered from intense fishing pressure in a protected national park, the Rio Indio watershed is loaded with tarpon, snook, rainbow bass and other tropical species. Arriving in San Jose, Costa Rica, you'll be escorted across the Nicaraguan border to Rio Indio Lodge, which blends in naturally with the surrounding rainforest. Its deluxe rooms and other guest facilities offer abundant creature comforts. While the lodge accommodates up to 70 guests for eco-adventures, the special Anglers Enclave is limited to just 18 fishermen.

In the span of a few days, you can fish a combination of ocean, river and lagoon. Powerful 20-foot boats take you just outside the river mouth to fish for tarpon weighing up to 150 pounds. Snook are taken casting in the rivers mouth. Going inland, you'll share a 16-foot johnboat with a veteran guide in search of guapote, (rainbow bass), mojara, machaca and other freshwater exotics targeted with conventional bass rigs or fly rods.
