Pasimoni and Pasiba River Lodges
Location: Rios Pasimoni and Pasiba, Amazonas State, Venezuela Type: Lodge Camp
Imagine a place where giant peacocks are the norm, not the exception. Where the camp log doesn't even recognize fish under
10 pounds! The famed Casiquiare waterway's blackwater environs account for some of the largest peacocks on record -- and countless tales of adventure. The Pasimoni River was the site of
the 2005 Citgo Bassmasters Classic, in which four top professional bass anglers went to head-to-head in a televised peacock fishing competition. Flying from Caracas over the vast Amazon rainforest,
you'll land at a remote airstrip, then embark by boat to Pasimoni River Lodge. This riverside jungle camp's basic comforts include twin beds, fans, electric lighting, icemaker and refrigerator.
Your guide will lead you to secluded lagoons and other prime locations. Eighteen-foot aluminum runabouts are rigged with 75 hp outboards and wide casting platforms. Unlike other operations
dependent on trolling motors, hard-working guides still prefer to quietly paddle while stalking big peacocks. At midweek, you'll
navigate to the Pasiba River and a whole new array of fishing conditions. The comfortable Pasiba Lodge sits adjacent to a friendly Indian village, offering insights to traditional Amazonian culture.
