Mongolian Taimen Adventure
 Location: Mongolia Type: Camp
Found in just a few rivers in Russia, China and Mongolia, the taimen closely resembles a salmon. However, taimen do not die when they spawn, thus can grow to monstrous proportions. Roughly the
size of Alaska, Mongolia's natural isolation between the Altay Mountains and the Gobi Desert has kept it out of the Western spotlight for centuries.
Called "river wolf" by the local people, Mongolian
Taimen feed on mice, lemmings and other small rodents. Both fly and conventional anglers have had good success catching these ferocious
predators. Mongolian taimen average about 32 inches and roughly 10 pounds, but there's always the chance at fish over 50 inches. Also abundant are the trout-like
lenok and four subspecies of grayling. Mongolia's warm hospitality will make your adventure to this magical land an unforgettable experience. You'll stay in a
traditional ger, a large circular dwelling about 9 feet high and 15 feet in diameter.
