Amazon Basin Variety Trips

Urariquera Catfish

Location: Remote Fast-Water Rivers, Roraima Shield Region
Type:  Fixed Bungalow Camp

Payara Fish in a Land that Time Forgot - With fierce, giant fish who've never seen a lure before...where every strike might be a world record!   Loaded with exotic species, Brazil's northern Amazon Shield rivers are host to some of the world's most exciting gamefish and world record opportunities.   Payara, one of the greatest of all freshwater gamefish, provide an awesome blend of gut wrenching strikes and acrobatic, head-shaking leaps.  Pirapitinga and trairao of 20 pounds or more provide extraordinary thrills, vicious strikes and powerful runs.  Enormous Jau and gargantuan Piraiba catfish (among the world's largest) call these waters home.  Four world records were recently shattered here with catfish over 300 pounds!  Giant Bicuda, Matrinchao, Piranha, Jundira, Pescada, and Red-tailed Catfish also lurk in the remote, untouched waters of these powerful, wild rivers!  Amazon Fringe variety trips range from basic camping style to relative jungle luxury, depending on the venue.  Surrounded by pristine jungle reserves, these trips provide the ultimate Amazon experience..
