Just returned from a rain shorten trip to the Amazon RAIN Forest. Although this may have been the worst fishing trip in terms of pure fish caught, this was one of the best trips I have been on. I arrived a day earlier than the others and spent a relaxing day with my good friend Captain James "Jimbo" Henderson at his house just outside Manaus. The group headed to camp on Friday morning and were all fishing by 10:00. I headed out with one of my friends Karl Farnung who was new to PB fishing. He was right at home in the piranha infested environment as he is my stock broker! He and his son Ian were one of two father son combo's on this trip. Ian by the way had a 14.5#. Not bad for a rookie. What made this trip so great was the chemistry of the group. All just enjoyed being together in a relaxing setting to enjoy fellowship and the pleasures the jungle had to offer. As usual, the people of the camp seemed thrilled to see us and welcomed us with open arms. They worked their bottoms off to make sure our trip was the best they had to offer. The guides although very frustrated with the high water never quit trying to find active fish. The food was excellent, Thanks John! Jeri and John made sure everything ran smoothly. Lures that did work that week included the HighRoller RipRoller in halloween and clown, Jigs with teasers in colors Blue pink, yellow red green, red and black, and the Yozuri's in the same colors as the jigs. Big fish went to fellow PBA members Frazer Letzig with a 19# and Jonathan Keltner 18#. I would like to personally thank all the people on this trip who made this past week a memory I will never forget. Also, a big thanks to Don Cutter for running a first class operation. Don truly puts service above self.

Looking forward to fishing with all of you again soon,

Greg Thompson

Hi Greg,

I'm glad you had a great time on the first half of your trip. I'm assuming with the water levels and fishing condition's what they are we all made the right decision to reschedule our trips this week? I will give you a call, I would like to hear more about your trip and when your going again. By the way, thank you for all the help prior to your departure with information on preparing for Bob and myselves first Peacock Bass Trip. We are truly looking forward to going down and fish for Peacock's on the Uninni River.

This is the sentiment I have been spreading since my first trip to Brasil. I have been on a couple trips where some complained if they did not load the boat up with fish everyday. To me it's always been about the remote area of the country, and people you are with that makes a great fishing trip. The outfitter and his staff also have a lot to do with a successful trip when the fishing is a little lean. I will just be happy to be making my next trip. Good luck to all on upcoming trips.
