Can anyone confirm that a fishing client died recently on a trip to the Rio Marie?

Thanks!
Jim

Jim,

I have been told by an agent and a few outfitters that the man in his mid-70s died from a heart attack (once he got to shore after his boat had swamped in some rapids). This occurred, I'm told, while he and the rest of his group were on their way to the operation's houseboat. Our condolences to his family of course.

The Amazon can be a harsh environment, so individual fitness and group safety should always be considerations for all.

Larry,

Thanks for the response and information. Fitness level seems to be a low priority on some of my trips. Even first class operations such as the Agua
Boa can sometimes be physically challenging. The guides are constantly evaluating the client prior to everyone pulling the boats up a narrow channel to a hidden lagoon!

The deceased angler was from Idaho. His name was Ken Pursley. Report I saw from an Idaho TV station stated that a boat overturned in some rapids
and Mr. Pursley did not survive. Sounded like he was a veteran Peacock Angler.
