|I fished the Rio Negro with a group of 14 aboard the Kalua which caught almost 1,000 peacock bass including 84 over 9 pounds & 43 over 13 pounds. Three peacocks over 20 pounds were taken and I didn't luck in to one on this trip. You can read more detail on my mid-teeners and see the photo of my largest fish in my online log posted on the PBA website at http://www.peacockbassassociation.com/html/larry_peacock_bass_log.html . Jigs & flies were hot and minnowbaits and topwater plugs took a few. First time peacock angler and new PBA member Bobby Balser caught two of the 3 fish over 20. You can see his 22 pounder in the PBA Member Gallery section on our website!
The water levels were perfect for some big numbers of peacock bass taken by each boat. I understand that the following two weeks have also been productive with water levels remaining good.
