| I am headed down in four weeks and need some info on using my cell phone in Manaus. What are the pre-fix numbers to use for both calling back to USA and also to make local calls in Manaus (I might need to order a pizza)? My service is AT&T. Thanks. |

Mark:
I would check with AT&T and make sure you have Int'l service. They can turn on temporarily (for a fee of course). Once it's available, it was pretty simple. I believe it was +011-area code-number.
Good luck. |

| I have an Iphone and I just use it like I am in Missouri. The saved numbers I just touched and it goes through. Some cells like the Iphone sense your location and adds the appropriate prefix number. I used mine in and around Barcelos also. |

Mark -
It is pretty simple. As previously mentioned, you have to have International Service. If you only want the phone, it's cheap (about $5 per month) and can be turned on and off as needed. You can either do it on the website or at an AT&T store. Data is much more expensive if you need emails.
I will be going in less than 2 weeks myself. Wishing both of us good trips. I'd love to hear how yours went when you get back.

| Unlike other trips where once you left Manaus you were out of touch, my Blackberry worked in Barcelos. After a week out of touch, I was reading the news stories and football scores to everyone. |
