Mastered the palomar, which should be good for most lures using braid.

However, I also have been trying a combo of a 14" surgeon's loop then use the loop to do the palomar knot ... even for the woodchoppers. Some forums are stating that you should do a double palomar due to braid's tab end slipping through the knot ... but that can't happen with the surgeon's loop.

In the end you have a spare line section that will hold if the other breaks. I wonder if this the the way I have heard the guides rig the jig lines?

Seems to be best of both worlds, unless there is a knot strength issue, or the weight of the extra line impacts working the lure in any way. It takes a bit of practice, but I got the hand of it after a few tries.
