So I have been researching travel bags and this one seemed perfect for a checked bag. It has a split bottom to hold travel rods and seemingly enough room for everything else assuming the 44lb max travel weights.
HOWEVER, the dimentions are 36" long X 13" Wide X 15", which total 64" ... I heard that some airlines have a max total inches of 62". Do you think this will be a problem?
BTW, you have to order this bag overseas ... I tried all US sites I could find and they are out of stock (discontinued).

Hi Art,
I know you are a recent new member of PBA and it is great to have you participating on the forum.
About the bag: It is by far the best travel bag that I've ever found. All claims made by manufacturer are indeed true. I have carried it down on TAM at least 20 trips (and another 30 elsewhere) and have not had a failure of even a zipper. It is durable and functional. I carry my tackle boxes in the lower unit and even a 3-piece travel rod in the bag (which it's length is well-suited). Clothes are put in the upper compartment and extra shoes in the end compartments. Wet stuff at the end of the trip can go in the waterproof compartments.
I love it, needless to say, and highly recommended it to readers of our PBA eZine when they came out 5 or 6 years ago or so, and in another issue or so afterwards. I still do. Enjoy it! |

That's one hell of a travel bag! I guess if price is no worry, why not? I just bought a duffle bag at Dicks Sporting Goods for about $40 and plopped my Bass Pro fishing bag, clothes and gear in it. I carry on my travel rods and reels, but checked the duffle. I could also put the rod case in the duffle and carry the whole thing on.

Art,
If you can find that GLoomis split cargo bag it is worth the extra dollars in my mind. I own two. My first one is still in great shape after many fights the past three years or so.
I just purchased my second one a couple months ago, as a spare bag, when I found out the series was no longer being made. It is the best rolling fishing bag I have seen or used so far. It is not a cliche to say it was actually designed for fishermen. I carry an empty waterproof duffle inside my GLoomis split cargo bag that I then use as my tackle boat bag.

Larry,
By coincidence, I was going to call you to ask what type of rolling bag you had when I fished with you this year, as it looked like a great bag. Despite the price, this Loomis bag looks just what I am looking for to carry 3-piece rods, shoes, etc.
Thanks.
