The lead article in the brand new 2011 IGFA World Record Game Fishes Book is titled, "Tucunare ... It's Portuguese for Peacock Bass". The 424-page Annual which includes existing world records as well as articles, is hot off the press. The publisher calls this article a "Primer for Catching World-Class Tucunare." I wrote the 9-page article as a how-to and packed it full of tactics and tips on making anyone's next trip to South America one they hopefully will remember forever. You will find 26 color photos and six separate sidebars to help even experienced anglers catch more and larger peacocks. Hope you all enjoy it.

Also included in the new 2011 IGFA World Record Game Fishes book is an article Catch, Measure, Release The IGFA launches new ALL-Tackle Length Record Category. Effective today 01/01/2011.

All regular rules apply with a few additions and exceptions:

no gaffs.
all fish Must be measured using an official IGFA measuring device.
fish must be measured at the site of capture.
Disqualified: if fish dies or does not swim away on its own accord after
release.
fish caught and entered for lenght records are not eligible for weighing and submission for other record categories.

The IGFA measuring device is available from the IGFA and several select retailers for $49.95. no that's not a mis-print!

In our February eZine (and the IGFA book), members will also find the all-tackle records for the six peacock bass species now recognized by IGFA currently. Plus the book lists a bunch of records for other exotic species that we catch in "peacock country".
