Fished for my 5th year at La Zona which is located on the Uruguay River on the border of Argentina and Uruguay for monster golden dorado. Under tough water conditions, chocolate colored, my group of 4 landed a 50lbs and 48lbs golden dorado. Best lures were the cd18 mag rapala in firetiger and Mag30 rapala in firetiger and dorado coloration. Water clarity is improving daily so if anyone is heading to La Zona soon the fishing should be ideal!! I found a link which gives daily updates on the water levels in La Zona so if you need it send me a message and I will forward you the link.
Good fishing, Bob Daly aka the doradokiller |

Jay: Probably about 75-100 bites per day per person but you only landed maybe 5-10% as the dorado are very strong fighters, jumpers, and have jaws of steel. Water was chocolate colored but we did well in difficult conditons. It has cleared currently but levels are high around 7 meters. Have a bunch of friends heading down today. For photos either look at my facebook page, website at doradokiller.blogspot.com or e-mail me at doradokiller@hotmail.com
All peacock fishermen should experience the golden dorado at La Zona! |
