I've been getting reports that Brazil's Rio Madeira basin (called the Amazon "Southern Fishery" by many) has perfect water conditions right now. They say that rain is non-existant and some levels are much lower than normal for this time of year. They expect the prime water levels to continue another 6 to 8 weeks.
On the Rio Negro watershed, waters are still high, as is normal for September, but some operators are predicting a "fishable" level in SOME tributaries a few weeks earlier than normal. That's all good news if it happens. Most operators start fishing in October or early November, but a couple are already having very productive trips. Hopefully, we'll get a few reports soon in our Fishing Field Reports section of this forum. |
