Sadly, PBA member Raymond "Dink" Alston's workshop burnt down last night, destroying all of his rod building materials, customer rods, Ranger boat, truck and fishing gear. Thankfully his home was spared, and no one was injured.
He's determined to rebuild and continue custom rod design and fabrication! Apparently there's a lot of rod building to catch up on, including mine! ha ha.
For those that don't know, Dink owns Goldrush Custom Rods, and makes wonderful customized 3-piece travel rods. Check out his website:

Best wishes to Dink and his family! |

Dink has been a good friend and longtime Supporting Member of PBA. I have ran into a lot of peacock bass anglers in the Amazon bearing his Goldrush rods. We also wish him well in his rebuilding process. He told me that the worse part of the whole thing is having to contact the guys whose rods he had already built and were ready to ship, that they won't get them in time for their trips. If you are one of the unfortunate guys on that list, please be patient ... for Dink's sake. |
