Talked to one of the guides today and he says water is still high but calling for a drier December.

Levels throughout the area are way too high for successful PB trips. We have cancelled all our December trips and have rescheduled for January and February, levels depending.
Levels in Manaus are 3.5m higher than same period last year!!
Many Cancellations in December

Several of PBA's Supporting Members are postponing peacock bass trips in December to Amazon tributaries due to high waters. A report received today stated that heavy rains have been falling every day over the past 5 days in the upper Rio Negro Basin. Another report that I received this past weekend said that waters had risen 4 to 6 feet along much of the Rio Negro.

If you have a trip scheduled this month, it would be wise to check with your outfitter or agent to see if it is still scheduled. Also, check the PBA site for the weather reports for Barcelos and Santa Isabel. You can get a 10-day forecast for each to monitor the situation.

I just received word from Barcelos that the water level in the Rio Negro is starting to drop again! Good news for those going in January.

Levels on the Negro are finally dropping again, hopefully they will be good enough for a few re-matches in January/February!
