Have heard rumors lately that Brazil is considering issuing a Visa good for 10 years? Does anyone have any info or know "the truth" about this???

Bill,

I checked this rumor out a week or so ago with the largest passport/visa expediting agency in the US (CIBT) and they have not heard anything about it. They put out a weekly update (which I receive) on all changes from all embassies regarding passport and visa requirements and there has been no formal announcement yet from the Brazilian consulates. They even checked with one who didn't know anything about it.

All of that said, sometimes one consultate will do things quite a bit different than others. I remember when I recieved the first One-year visa (maybe 4 or 5 years ago) from them when everyone else was getting either a 90-day or a 5-year visa (as was the norm for years). Then a few more people received a one-year visa, but I haven't heard of the one-year visa being issued often since around that one period.

Right now, I wouldn't count on it but we'll have news in our PBA eZine for sure if and when it becomes policy. CIBT (http://www.us.cibt.com/tourkits/tourkits.aspx?) is the expediter we recommend and have arranged discounts for peacock bass anglers. They are on the lookout for any term change news and will let me know. You can also ask them directly at any time I am sure.

I heard the same rumors regarding the extension of the 5yr Visa to a 10yr. I heard it is waiting approval by the Brazilian National Congress. Cool
