Was wondering if anybody has had problems taking their reels with line on in their carry on baggage to/from Manaus from the States. I had a big problem a few years ago in Buenos Aires as they would not allowed the line to be on the reels.
thanks and good fishing, Bob Daly |

Bob:
I didn't have a problem with the reels, but they made me check my pack rods coming out of Manuas the last time. Recently had a hassle in Mexico City too with the rods. That was weird because they had just let a guy carrying a guitar case through. Seems to me that El Kabong could do more damage with his guitar than me with my rods...oh well.
Never a problem with the reels other than being asked if there were any hooks on them. Once I told them 'no', they passed me through. |

I had a problem coming back from Manaus 2 years ago. The agent would not let me carry my hookless lures in my carry on nor my reels. Guess it all depends who is working that day.
Also a big problem a few years ago when going to Manaus. TSA out of Miami took a saw and cut my lockless rodcase in half breaking 8 rods. This year my friend had 4 rods broken coming back from La Zona.
Good fishing, Bob |
